Your Bridal Headpiece's Tiny Heir

If you dream of gifting your gown to your daughter one day, you know the feeling — that beautiful, full-circle moment when she decides to wear it, or work pieces of it into her own. But waiting for that day to come… oy. So, many of our brides have found a sweeter way to start that story early: a photoshoot with their babies wearing their bridal headpiece.

Here's how our brides have made it happen.

Made to Be Worn Again

From the day you choose your wedding headpiece, it's a big part of your day — and already writing the second chapter of your love story.

For a lot of our brides, that second chapter starts to unfold with the birth of a daughter. Cradled in your arms, so tiny and new, you want to give her the world. As that first year passes, your mind wanders back to your wedding day, and you want to give her a piece of that magic too. You've got just the thing tucked away in your closet: the headpiece you wore when you joined your life to your partner's.

Timing It Right

There's no single right moment to do this — our brides have made it work at every stage.

Some have photographed their darling newborns, their bridal tiara placed gently atop their tiny heads for just a minute while they sleep. First birthdays are popular too. Turning an entire year old is a big deal, and your little princess appreciates sparkle even more. Plus, she can sit up and look right at the camera. Or you might wait for your daughter's First Communion, Bat Mitzvah, Quinceañera, or Sweet Sixteen.

One of our brides even brought hers back twice — Tina's wedding hair vine was worn by her daughter Isabella on her first birthday and Communion.

Styling the Shoot

If you're photographing your newborn, swaddled and snug as a bug is adorable, as are special lacy outfits chosen for the occasion. As for where you place your headpiece, you've got a few options. They're so small at that age, many of our brides choose to carefully position their hair vine on baby's tummy while she lies on her back. Sometimes, wedding jewelry or a bridal comb is placed alongside baby, or on her darling little toosh!

From there, you can choose the setting; a soft-as-a-cloud faux fur or gauze blanket, or tiny chaise lounge. Often, your photographer will have precious little props and backdrops that are safe and make your little princess the star.

If you choose to do your shoot a bit later, your daughter's little personality is blooming. Let it inform what she wears and where the photos are taken. And, if you choose to give your daughter your headpiece at another of life's milestones, the styling can be a lovely way to bond!
