Communion Headpieces and Veils: The Complete Look
The focus of Holy Communion is, of course, your daughter receiving her first sacrament. However, this spiritual rite of passage is one to celebrate, which absolutely means dressing up! You’ll want your daughter to feel special, comfortable, and like herself in her fancy white frock and communion accessories. And, for many little girls, this means living their fantasy of being a princess, complete with a sparkling communion headpiece and veil.
Though often they’re the last to be selected, those finishing touches matter! They’ll not only follow the holy communion attire tradition, but also make your daughter's look her own.
Below are four of the headpiece and veil pairings that little ones and their parents often choose when working with our stylists.

First Communion Headband with Veil
For the little girl whose style skews classic, a delicate crystal headband with a fingertip or elbow-length veil is a beautiful choice. Depending on her preference, your daughter can choose a dainty piece or one that makes more of a statement. Mixing pearls and crystals is always lovely for first communion; however, they’re not a must. An all-crystal headband is lovely, too!

First Communion Hair Vine and Veil
If your daughter is more fairy than princess and wants flowers in her hair, a crystal hair vine might be her perfect match.
These pieces are built on flexible wire, making them remarkably easy to manipulate. When adorned with a mix of ceramic flowers, crystals, and pearls, they evoke the feeling of flower garlands and fairy princesses.
They’re also terrific in any hairstyle. If your little girl wants her hair up in a bun, you can wrap the vine around it or arc the piece over the top of her head, much like a headband. For girls who prefer their hair down or half up and half down, a hair vine is your best friend! They can be placed like a headband. No matter how your little one wears her hair, you’ll tuck her communion veil just at the crown of her head.

Holy Communion Tiara with Veil
Little girls who imagine themselves as royalty love crystal tiaras and veils! They make them feel like princesses and like the most important person in the room. The look is also a communion classic.
Some young ladies may ask for a communion crown, and though the terms are often used interchangeably, tiaras and crowns are not the same thing. That said, for first communion and daughter-appeasing purposes, shop as though they are! Both deliver that little queen feeling, dazzle, and sit poised atop the head.
Crowns and tiaras are extremely pretty paired with first communion veils. The two seem to go together like dressed-up little girls and picture-perfect photos.

Pairing Communion Headpieces and Veils
Just as there is a wide array of headpieces, there are many first communion veil styles to consider. And, outside of your church guidelines, there is no single right answer on what your daughter should wear.
Factors we encourage parents to consider are their daughter’s personal style and general comfort. A child can feel born to wear a tiara, a fluffy dress, and a poofy veil, or feel overwhelmed by them. That feeling translates into how she experiences the day, so it’s important that she’s thrilled with everything she wears.
The best way to find the ideal pieces is to consult her about her hair and what she’d like to wear, and then go from there!
